Why Seoul ADEX 2017?

With nuclear saber-rattling to the north and South Korea's newly elected president looking to open a new dialogue there, the next Seoul ADEX is uniquely framed with extra urgency and intrigue.

Driving the discussion, defense budget increases largely aimed at countering Kim Jong Un’s nuclear programs are spiking supplier interest in the show. For the first time, in 2017 the South Korean defense budget tops KRW40 trillion (more than $34.3 billion). This represents a year-on-year increase of four percent, and boosts the defense appropriation to about 10% of Korea’s entire annual budget. Projects in development such as the U.S.-operated “Kill Chain” pre-emptive attack system, Ballistic Early Warning Radar and the Surface-to-Surface Missile Improvement Plan are expected to receive sizable increases in funding.

Beyond the preoccupation with North Korea and uncertainty about the political direction of its presidency, there's a lot more on the radar at Seoul ADEX 2017. The show will build on its well-earned reputation to present a vital and growing international aerospace event that addresses the full scope of commercial, military and space interests. The 2015 edition hosted some 386 exhibitors from 32 nations whose products and services, including 47 aircraft on the flight line, attracted more than 80,000 professional visitors, including 82 delegations from 48 countries.

Organizers anticipate more exhibitors and visitors in 2017, all looking for extra insight and access to decision-makers and buyers in this dynamic, influential and extra-intriguing marketplace.

Why Exhibit in the USA Partnership Pavilion?

The spirit of confidence and cooperation that has marked the relationship between the United States and South Korea since the signing of the Mutual Defense pact in 1953 gives American exhibitors a market advantage at Seoul ADEX 2017:

  • Korean defense forces are overwhelmingly equipped with American-made equipment (on a five-year average [2010-2014], U.S. defense products accounted for around 85% of Korea’s total defense imports)
  • U.S. OEMs, suppliers and services companies sell and operate end-to-end in the country’s commercial aviation sector
  • NASA is a primary advisor on the Republic’s first lunar orbiter project under the Mid- to Long-Term Space Development Plan.

Kallman Worldwide’s decades of experience organizing the U.S. presence at aerospace and defense shows around the world, including Seoul ADEX (since 2013), builds on America's advantage to help you stand out at the show. Our USA Partnership Pavilion is your on-site headquarters at Seoul: a destination for buyers, an business hub for exhibitors and a forum for all to share ideas and insights.

In 2017, in addition to our suite of end-to-end show services, Pavilion exhibitors will benefit from a prominent, high-traffic hall location, access to public- and private-sector VIPs and influencers, exclusive business intelligence from industry thought-leaders and operatives and exclusive networking events.

SEOUL ADEX 2017 PRESS RELEASE

Carolyn Carniaux
Project Manager

Aim higher at Seoul ADEX!

National defense is a top priority — and with a $34 billion defense budget, South Korea is buying!
The country's growing defense, civil and commercial aviation industry are creating opportunities for equipment and services providers.

Seoul ADEX will focus on:

Civil Aviation and MRO

  • Seoul ADEX will host buyers in the civil aviation industry looking for products and services to supply the growing need for industry modernization. Over 91% of total aerospace imports into South Korea are for commercial aircraft, parts and components. Of this total, 63 % were of U.S. origin in 2015.
  • The country’s MRO market is expected to grow 23.5%, to around $3.7 billion by 2020.

Military Aviation

  • The ROK's defense procurement agency, Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) — the sole government agency responsible for conducting and executing the procurement of all defense equipment for the country — will have a strong presence at the show and is a main supporter of Seoul ADEX. With South Korea's strong focus on U.S. military products, the U.S. DSCA/DoD will be involved in the FMS process with the ROK, and will be a large presence in the USA Partnership Pavilion supporting U.S. exhibitors during the show.

Defense Systems

  • For 2016, a total of $35.27 billion has been announced for South Korea’s defense budget.
  • With market share in the defense and aerospace sectors of 95% and 63% respectively, U.S. suppliers have the advantage over competitors from other countries.

The 2015 edition of Seoul ADEX reported strong attendance and industry participation:

  • 386 exhibitors from 32 countries
  • 82 delegations from 48 countries
  • 79,000+ trade visitors
  • 180,000+ public visitors
  • 9 national pavilions
  • 7 seminars and conferences held with 2,783 attendees
  • 47 aircraft & 47 ground equipment exhibited

The USA Partnership Pavilion is your export advantage at Seoul ADEX. Because it presents the highest concentration of U.S. equipment and services at the show, it's a magnet for buyers looking for American quality, innovation and partnership.

In addition to our complete suite of pre-show, on-site and post-show services, capitalize on the extra attention, activities and access we're planning to generate for American suppliers:

  • Anticipated industry briefings by Joint United States Military Affairs Group - Korea (JUSMAG-K), other government officials as well as representatives of local/regional utilities.
  • Participation of U.S. Commercial Service representatives from countries in and around the Asia-Pacific region.
  • DSCA (DoD) works closely with the USA Partnership Pavilion to ensure maximum exposure to buyers at the show.
  • The Pavilion location is the ideal spot for any company looking to network with local corporations such as: Korea Aerospace Industry (KAI), Korean Air, Doosan, Hyundai, Hanhwa, LIG NEX1 and Samsung Techwin.
  • The FORUM - A newly-established feature of USA Partnership Pavilion at Seoul ADEX.
