The Farnborough International Airshow is the biggest and arguably most important aerospace and defense event of every even-numbered year, even more so in 2020 as a post-Brexit United Kingdom looks to maintain its ranking as the world’s #2 aerospace producer.

Some 3,000 equipment manufacturers and suppliers employ more than 230,000 workers in the UK today. The Farnborough region alone is home to 15 large aerospace companies including ADS Group, BAE Systems, Safran, TAG Aviation, and Weston Aerospace.


Leveraging this critical mass of assets and influence, show organizers routinely deliver a world-class event that in 2018 hosted more than 1,500 exhibitors and 80,000 trade visitors from 96 countries, including 156 civil and military delegations. Total reported sales were US $192 billion including 1,400 commercial aircraft and 1,432 engines.

Why Exhibit in the USA Partnership Pavilion?

As the world’s #1 aerospace and defense supplier, the United States fields a formidable line-up of manufacturing and supply chain leaders at Farnborough. The 2018 edition featured more than 300 U.S. exhibitors, the largest national presence from outside of the UK.

The majority of U.S. companies exhibit in the 4,000 sqm USA Partnership Pavilion, organized by Kallman Worldwide since 1996 in coordination with the U.S. departments of Commerce, Defense, State and Transportation. In 2018, Pavilion exhibitors represented 30 states, including 20 state pavilions organized by individual departments of economic development or commerce, and featuring state-based co-exhibitors. Nearly 50 Pavilion exhibitors were new to market, 90 were new to the show.


During America’s Opening Ceremony in 2018, U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Robert W. Johnson, described the Pavilion as “a unique showcase for the United States’ commitment to increased trade, economic growth, prosperity and global security.”

The case for a “showcase” was supported by the attendance of senior U.S. government, military and industry leaders, and an exclusive program of news, knowledge and networking events produced by Kallman to drive extra traffic and interest in U.S. industry

  • Johnson was joined during the opening by Peter Navarro, Trade Advisor to the President; Ellen Lord, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics; Mathew Donovan, Undersecretary of the United States Air Force; Dan Elwell, FAA Administrator; Jim Bridenstine, NASA Administrator; United States senators from seven states and governors from five.
  • In honor of the Royal Air Force’s Centennial, Apollo 15 Command Module Pilot Col. Al Worden, USAF-Ret., joined the ceremony to present an American flag flown on his flight to the Moon to Royal Air Force Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier. The RAF 100 was also commemorated in a custom souvenir publication distributed throughout the Pavilion.
  • Worden served as an “ambassador” for U.S. industry on-site and an advocate for STEM education at local schools in the Fairford area and the Royal International Air Tattoo
  • The NEW Executive Briefing Center, located in the Partnership Chalet, hosted week-long series of senior-level business briefings on a wide range of topics including: emerging technologies, new defense and commercial space market opportunities, and the very popular “Doing Business with” Airbus, Embraer and BAE Systems. 

In 2020, Col. Worden will return to Farnborough for the third consecutive edition to promote the new “Astronaut Al Worden Endeavour Scholarship,” and award eight lucky British students and two educators with an all-expenses paid week at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Space Camp in Huntsville, AL.
