Why Exhibit at FAMEX 2019?

Mexico’s aerospace and defense industry has taken off in the past seven to nine years, progressing from "harness-assembly capabilities to producing full structural aircraft components, composite airframes and micro-tolerance turbine parts," according to this 2015 PWC report. With more than 320 “aeronautical” companies, $6.4 billion in exports, a workforce of some 45,000 and a particularly robust MRO sector, the country currently ranks as the 14th largest aerospace and defense producer in the world, and it’s set its sights set on breaking into the Top 10 by 2020.

However you do the math, Mexico’s path to that tier of performance — outlined in the government’s “Pro-Aeréo 2012-2020” plans (and given extra context by this translated report from Machine Shop Mexico) — is paved with goals for increasing employment, output and revenue. The target is 14% annual growth leading to more than $12 billion in exports by 2020.

FAMEX 2019 is the showcase for Mexico’s proud aerospace industry, and an open invitation for any supplier that wants to capitalize on the country’s momentum to compete for a place on the team. Covering 110,000 sqm of indoor and outdoor display space spread over five halls at the Santa Lucia Air Force Base, Zumpango, FAMEX 2017 will present a cross-section of Mexico’s civil aviation, space, and military aeronautics sectors. Show organizers — the Mexican Ministry of Defense (SEDENA) and its Air Force (FAM) — are looking to build on the success of Famex 2017 event, which hosted more than 500 exhibitors, 4,600 B2B meetings, 33,000 trade attendees including 16 foreign delegations.

Why Exhibit in the USA Partnership Pavilion?

Mexico’s global ambition has attracted a corresponding level of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), led by the United States, the world’s #1 aerospace and defense supplier. Between 1999 and 2014 the U.S. was the biggest state investor in the Mexican aerospace industry with 52 American companies working on more than $800 million-plus worth of projects south of the border (again referenced the 2015 PWC report).

Free Trade and Bilateral Safety agreements have further enabled this productive partnership between our two countries, strengthening the supply chain, opening access to skilled labor and facilitating the transfer of leading-edge technologies, all with the support of favorable regulations and tariffs.

The stage is set for you to sell, invest and grow in Mexico as an exhibitor in the USA Partnership Pavilion at FAMEX 2019. As the official U.S. representative and organizer of the U.S. presence at the show, Kallman Worldwide will build on America's established advantage to present our nation’s most innovative equipment, products and partners to attending buyers and decision-makers.

Pavilion space is centrally located for easy visitor access from hospitality chalets, static displays and the VIP tent, as well as neighboring exhibit halls, and our close partnership with show organizers ensures extra pre-show and on-site attention to your plans and presence. Add Kallman's exclusive schedule of hospitality and networking events, business briefings, and delegation tours — plus exhibitor, marketing and media services — and a week in Mexico starts to look like a trip that will pay for itself for years to come.

Mexico is on a "buying spree".

Much has been made of Mexico's burgeoning industry infrastructure, but the country is also spending billions on American equipment and supplies. U.S. exhibitors will be primed for profitable partnerships at FAMEX.

FAMEX is approved by the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) and the Mexican Air Force. It is organized around these four core market sectors.

Mexico is one of the fastest emerging MRO hubs in the world with increasing opportunities for suppliers to support current and future airline fleets.

Civil Aviation
To serve the growing demand for air travel in its growing economy, Mexico has launched several large infrastructure projects for airport development and expansion.

Military Aviation
While SEDENA has made a commitment to aeronautics development and manufacturing, it is on a "buying spree" for U.S.military equipment; more than $1 billion in foreign military sales in 2015, according to the DSCA, including three Blackhawk helicopters to add to the 18 ordered in April 2014. According to the Washington Post, Admiral William E. Gortney, the commander of Northern Command, the U.S. military headquarters that deals with Mexico, testified to Congress in 2015 that Mexico’s buying binge represented a “100-fold increase from prior years.”

Defense Systems
Mexico’s military is modernizing and spending more specifically to combat drug trafficking with new surveillance equipment, advanced weapons and technology.

Highlights from the 2017 edition of FAMEX:

  • 500 exhibitors
  • 35 countries represented
  • 16 delegations
  • 32,700 visitors
  • 4,600 B2B meetings

The USA Partnership Pavilion is your export advantage at FAMEX. Because it presents the highest concentration of U.S. equipment and services at the show, it's a magnet for buyers looking for American quality, innovation and partnership.

In addition to our complete suite of pre-show, on-site and post-show services, capitalize on the extra attention, activities and access we're planning for American suppliers:

  • Close relationship with the Mexican Air Force ensures access and direct links to top opportunities at the show.
  • Mexican President, Enrique Pena Nieta is scheduled to visit the USA Partnership Pavilion on Opening Day of FAMEX.
  • U.S. Commercial Service and U.S. Embassy Mexico will support USA Partnership Pavilion companies’ export initiatives in advance of and on site.
  • The U.S. Department of Defense works closely with the USA Partnership Pavilion to ensure maximum exposure to buyers.
  • Strong presence of U.S. aircraft on the ramp and high ranking military officers’ participation in Pavilion activities further increases the interest in U.S. companies and visitation to the Pavilion.
