World’s Leading Defense Contractors Head Roster of U.S. Exhibitors at DEFEXPO 2020

Lucknow, India and Waldwick, N.J. / February 4, 2020 – If India’s DEFEXPO 2020 exhibition reflects the leading edge of the Indo-Asia-Pacific aerospace & defense marketplace, the U.S. presence at this year’s show leaves no doubt that America intends to expand its role as one of the region’s top A&D suppliers.

India is the world’s second largest arms importer, and as the country builds out its own military industrial infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative, international competition for its arms business has only intensified.

The United States, the world’s top arms supplier and India’s third largest behind France and Russia, is gaining market share. While India accounted for 27% of Russian exports between 2014 and 2018, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Russia’s share of Indian imports during that period fell 42%. At the same time SIPRI reported, U.S. share of Indian imports grew to 12% as it widened the gap in global arms sales versus Russia from 12% to 75%.

DEFEXPO 2020 (February 5-9 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh), will mirror this larger marketplace with nearly 1,000 exhibitors; 75% from India and 25% representing other countries. The top three from outside of India are Russia (20 exhibitors), France (16 exhibitors) and the United States (14 exhibitors).

Depending on how one accounts for mergers in progress, the U.S. contingent is anchored by five or more of the world’s top-ranked (by defense revenues) publicly-traded aerospace companies: Lockheed Martin, Raytheon (which will complete its merger with United Technologies [UTC] in April), L3Harris, Textron and Collins Aerospace, which was acquired by UTC in 2018. A number of privately held manufacturers and suppliers round out the nation’s roster, including General Atomics, Orbis Technologies, PEI-Genesis and TE Connectivity India and Andre Canada.

The centerpiece of the American national effort at DEFEXPO 2020 is the USA Partnership Pavilion, organized for the fifth consecutive edition by Kallman Worldwide, Inc., in coordination with numerous government agencies, including the departments of Commerce, Defense and State. Located prominently in Hall 3, the  Pavilion is America’s headquarters on-site: an efficient location for buyers to meet more U.S. suppliers, a professional business center for U.S. exhibitors to maximize their exposure and impact on-site and a forum for all to share ideas and insights.

Kallman Worldwide President and CEO Tom Kallman said American participation in the USA Partnership Pavilion reflects a global trend.

“Now more than ever, success in international trade comes from partnership and teamwork. The USA Partnership Pavilion sharpens our focus on helping advance America’s national interests and security by building stronger relationships with our Indo-Asia-Pacific customers,” said Kallman. “America’s participation in DEFEXPO 2020 is a strong indication of how important India is to the United States, and that buyers and influencers throughout the region are looking to the U.S. for innovative solutions and partners to help ensure their national and economic security.”
