“Ask America” at Africa Aerospace & Defence 2016

Major OEMs and SMEs across U.S. supply chain look to initiate/strengthen regional partnerships

  • U.S. International Pavilion showcases technology and innovation
  • Maryland stands out with 10 state-based exhibitors
  • NEW Pavilion Forum program features government, military and industry thought-leaders/insights

Centurion, South Africa and Waldwick, N.J. / September 6, 2016 — Against a backdrop of persistent regional tensions, multi-factional terrorist threats and, thanks to declining oil prices, the first defense budget declines in a decade across Africa, U.S. suppliers will look to grow their share of the continent’s aerospace, defense and security markets at Africa Aerospace & Defence 2016, September 14-18, in Centurion.

The centerpiece of the national effort will be the U.S. International Pavilion, organized by Kallman Worldwide, Inc., in coordination with numerous government agencies, including the departments of Commerce, Defense and State. The Pavilion will be a primary destination for buyers looking to meet U.S. industry leaders, an on-site business hub for U.S. exhibitors looking to maximize their exposure and impact at the event and a forum for all to share industry information and insights.

Nearly 30 U.S. exhibitors representing the industry’s most innovative partners, products and services will be “open for business” in the Pavilion. Ranging from publicly-traded stalwarts such as Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS), Honeywell (NYSE: HON), Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) to privately held small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 250 employees, exhibitors hail from 12 states, including one state pavilion — Maryland — all looking to initiate or strengthen international partnerships that will generate new business and create more jobs back home.

In addition to space on site, U.S. International Pavilion exhibitors are also featured in the Kallman online show directory at kallman.com/AAD2016

“When U.S. companies commit to exhibit at Africa Aerospace & Defence, they’re saying they believe in the power of this event to attract real business prospects and customers,” said Kallman Worldwide President and CEO, Tom Kallman. “Our team is proud to work closely with the organizers to help our exhibitors succeed at this show, whether as prime contractors or subcontractors in support of overseas manufacturers, service partners and their end-user customers.”

To inform and enlighten the business conversation at Africa A&D, Kallman will host the U.S. International Pavilion Forum, a new presentation space located in Booth 3E10. In addition to the official U.S. International Pavilion Opening Ceremony on September 14, the Forum will feature a three-day series of presentations by government, military and industry thought leaders, including the United States Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, Heidi Grant; Johan van Rensburg, Senior Commercial Specialist, U.S. Commercial Service, Johannesburg; and Rakhee Ramgolam, Turnaround Executive, Office of the CEO at Armscor, the Armaments Corporation of South Africa.

To heighten awareness and drive more trade attendees to visit Pavilion exhibitors, Kallman will promote the national presence at Africa A&D with its “Ask America” on-site advocacy campaign. The message will be placed prominently around the U.S. International Pavilion, integrated into official events and media during the show, and highlighted in social media (follow on Twitter @kallmanEWC).

“The United States may be one of the world’s biggest defense and security suppliers, but that’s no guarantee buyers in Africa will look to work with U.S. companies over others,” said Kallman. “As the organizer of the U.S. International Pavilion, we have a responsibility to advocate not only for our exhibitors, but for our nation in this highly competitive global marketplace. “We want every show visitor to ‘ask America’ because we are listening, and we can help them gain a competitive edge in any market sector, anywhere in the world,” said Kallman. “The United States is committed to our international trade partnerships, we bring the best technology and innovation to the table and we have the best-skilled professionals ready to do the work.”
