MQ-9B SkyGuardian Completes Trans-Atlantic Flight
First Trans-Atlantic Flight of a MALE RPA

On 11 July 2018 a Medium-altitude, Long-endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) produced by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) made history as it landed at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford in Gloucestershire, UK and became the first MALE RPA to successfully complete a trans-Atlantic flight. The GA-ASI-owned MQ-9B SkyGuardian took off from Grand Forks, North Dakota on July 10th. The flight covered 3,760 nautical mile flight in 24 hours 2 minutes. Read more.

GA-ASI announced that it will be expanding its Flight Test and Training Center (FTTC)

GA-ASI announced that it will be expanding its Flight Test and Training Center (FTTC) at the Grand Sky Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Business Park near Grand Forks, North Dakota. GA-ASI’s expansion is intended to address its increasing demand from U.S. and international customers for flight crew training and sensor system testing. GA-ASI plans to add a second permanent hangar with more office and classroom space in the near term. Read more.

The French Air Force operated two MQ-9 Reaper® simultaneously in support of Bastille Day events
The French Air Force operated two of its MQ-9 Reaper® simultaneously in support of France’s Bastille Day events, one over Paris and the second over Cognac, on July 14th. The “French Reapers,” Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) built by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), assisted French authorities by providing airborne surveillance over the national celebration. Read more.
