Speaking at annual US National Day celebration hosted yesterday by the US Embassy, Ryan Gliha, Chargé  d’Affaires, US Embassy highlighted the recent successes in the US-Qatar relationship in the areas of trade and investment, defence and counter-terrorism, and education and cultural exchanges.

Qatar is Very Important to Canada

Canada is negotiating a Foreign Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (FIPPA) with Qatar, which aims to accelerate investment flows between the two countries and provide a new impetus to bilateral economic ties. “Qatar is very important to Canada; Qatar is very high on Canada’s policy of trading more with the Middle East region,” said Jean Charest, Canada’s former deputy prime minister.”

An Iranian Hacking Group is Expanding Operations in the Middle East

An Iran-based hacking group that in the past has conducted domestic surveillance is turning its gaze outward across the Middle East, according to a new report from Symantec. The cybersecurity firm said last year, the group attacked organizations in Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Some of the sectors the group, known as Chafer, has targeted include airlines, aircraft services, telecom firms, and technology companies serving the air and sea transport sectors.
