Show Description |
Since it was inaugurated in 1992, The Moscow Air Show or MAKS, as it is commonly known, has grown in numbers and sophistication to the point where it has become the entry portal to the burgeoning Russian and Central European aviation market. Russia’s economy has been developing steadily since the early 2000s. Over the past five years, the country’s GDP has risen nearly 40%, with the annual growth of real per-capita income averaging 12 percent. This economic upturn is mirrored by the ever-increasing importance and stature of Russia’s premier aerospace exhibition—the biennial MAKS International Aviation and Space Salon.
MAKS is held at the Gromov Flight Research Institute Airfield, in Zhukovsky, some 35 kilometers from central Moscow. All of the major aerospace design centers are concentrated at this facility and they all support MAKS in a big way. In turn, everybody who is anybody in Russian and Central European commercial, general and military aviation comes to the show to do serious business. |
