Mining is one of Peru’s main activities due to its outstanding contribution to the economy and its presence in the majority of our regions. The diversity of minerals produced and the levels of development reached, place Peruvian Mining as one of the most important around the world.
The investments projected in the mining sector until the year 2011 would reach up to US$ 15.000 million. Last year, the mining exports were US$ 17.328 million, representing 62% of the total of exports of Peru, whereas the imports were of US$ 19.599 million. Likewise, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 8.99%, representing the highest growth in Peru in the last thirteen years.
The presence of 47 companies of medium and great mining, 73 mine operators dedicated to explorations, the identification of 270 mining projects, and the expansion of diverse operations of the mining companies, makes Peru an attractive country for these investments.
